Uses of the Written English Feedback Sheets

Tutors might use these feedback sheets in some or all the following ways, depending on students' needs and the structure and needs of the course:

  • to guide students to items in Writing for University Courses which they should address
  • to help students see the relevance of Writing for University Courses
  • with individual students who have a particular difficulty in written English, to direct them to guidance
  • with all students at appropriate points, to encourage them to focus on writing skills (e.g. at the start of a course or a level of a course; where students must complete a major piece of written work)
  • with a small piece of work, for formative feedback, before students complete a larger piece of work
  • with a major piece of assessed work, in addition to the normal feedback sheet, at a stage where feedback on writing skills can help them improve for the future (e.g. at the end of the first semester of a level).
